Hello.

My name is Mark Jardine and I was born in Newcastle Upon Tyne. I moved to London 10 years ago as a designer on XXL Basketball Magazine. I have since worked on various publications and progressed to my current role as Art Editor on Tottenham Hotspur Official Matchday Programme and Monthly Magazine. Previous and existing clients include The FA, UEFA, Newcastle United FC, The NBA and The BBC. I am have extensive knowledge in the following applications:

Tottenham Hotspur FC

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR MATCHDAY PROGRAMME: Art Editor
I am reponsible for desinging two seperate matchday programmes throughout the season for Spurs. The first programme is for games in the Barclays Premier League and the second is for games in The UEFA Europa League. The specifications for both publications are B5, 100 pages, perfect bound with a matte finish. They both have a wide range of content from player interviews, news, stats and competitions. I work to very tight deadlines as Spurs can sometimes have three home games in ten days which could include cup games. I have also helped produce the Spurs official hanbook 2011/2012 which is 148 pages full of everything you need to know about Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR MONTHLY MAGAZINE: Art Editor
The magazine is A4 perfect bound with 84 pages. I am responsible for redesigning the whole look of the mag and seeing it through to the final print ready pdfs. I work closely with the editor to help give the magazine a more lifestyle feel. We organise interviews and photo shoots with the players in an environment away from the club.

Newcastle United Football Club

NEWCASTLE UNITED MATCHDAY PROGRAMME: Art Editor
I worked on NUFC publications for two seasons and was responsible for redesigning the whole look of the programme. The programme was B5 with 76 pages which included a wide range of content from player features, opposition pages, news and competitions. I was also involved in designing promotions, posters and content for the official website. In the first season working on the programme we were voted best cover design in the Premier League.

NEWCASTLE UNITED MONTHLY MAGAZINE: Art Editor
We relaunched the magazine as A4 perfect bound with 84 pages. I was responsible for redesigning the whole look and seeing it through to the final print ready pdfs. I worked closely with the editor and club photographer to help give the magazine a more lifestyle feel. We organised interviews and photo shoots with the players in an environment away from the club.

The 2010 Carling Cup Final

THE OFFICIAL CARLING CUP FINAL MATCHDAY PROGRAMME: ART EDITOR
I have worked on the past five Carling Cup Final Programmes but the 2010 publication was a special 164 pages perfect bound, celebrating 50 years of the League Cup as well as including player interviews, opposition features, and tactics, I was responsible for setting up the templates, help design and seeing it through to the final print ready pdf’s.

THE OFFICIAL PLAY-OFF FINAL MATCHDAY PROGRAMMES: ART EDITOR
Aswell as The Carling Cup I have also worked on the past five seasons Official Matchday programmes for the Championship, League 1 and League 2 Play-Off Finals. The programmes are A4, 100 pages, full of player interviews, opposition features, history and tactics. I was responsible for designing the covers and setting up the templates, which had to include the Football League brand throughout all publications. I was also asked to design promotional content about each game for in and around Wembley Stadium.

A weekly magazine that provides TV and movie listings free with The Sun newspaper. I worked on all aspects from designing features, movie reviews, promotions and competition pages.

BBC HISTORY MAGAZINE: DESIGNER
I worked on all aspects of this monthly magazine from picture research to designing features, to promotions and the news pages.

BBC MUSIC MAGAZINE: DESIGNER
A monthly classical music magazine. I worked on all aspects of the magazine from picture research to designing features, promotions and news pages. I have been involved in photo competitions for which I designed the booklets and panels for the main events.

SOUTHBANK MAGAZINE: DESIGNER
Southbank is the monthly preview magazine of the London-based South Bank Centre, an arts establishment that includes the Royal Festival Hall and Hayward Gallery among other venues. It contains features, listings, interviews and news stories about all types of music, dance, contemporary art and literature. I worked on the overall look of the magazine, which includes choosing images, working on the features, Spotlight, Encounters and the calendar.

Alliance Internationl Media

AIM: ART EDITOR
I progressed from designer to Art Director at AIM, publishing company for Champions League, XXL Basketball and Prestige magazines. I was responsible for most aspects of the magazines and three other designers. My job was to help out with covers, commission illustrators, oversee photo shoots, and check the overall style of magazine. The magazines were monthly and were translated into five languages. Some of the pages were used to advertise the magazine on the Sky Sports channel and the XXL Basketball posters I designed were used to advertise the NBA star Kevin Garnett coming over to England on his tour.
